Cookie policy
Practical Commerce Chamber sets cookies for a single job, measuring readership through Google Analytics, and only once you have pressed Accept.
Your first visit
A bar along the bottom of the screen asks you to Accept or Reject. While it waits for an answer, the analytics script stays switched off and nothing is stored as a cookie. Every story works the same way whatever you decide.
The two analytics cookies
- _ga: holds a random ID so Google Analytics can recognize a returning browser and avoid counting the same reader twice. Expires after 2 years.
- _ga_83G2Q0H7P7: remembers the state of your current session for this site's figures. Expires after 2 years.
Only Google Analytics reads these two cookies. The privacy policy covers why we look at the figures and when they are deleted.
How your answer is remembered
Your Accept or Reject is written to an entry called ne-consent in your browser's local storage, which stops the bar from reappearing on each page. This record is not a cookie and never travels to our servers. Clearing site data in your browser wipes it.
Changing your answer
Press the button below and the bar comes back so you can choose again. If you switch from Accept to Reject, measurement stops and the analytics cookies are removed from your browser.
Most browsers also let you block or clear cookies from their settings menu. Send any cookie question to editor@pcchamber.org.
