Clio Snacks has been acquired by Stride Consumer Partners LLC in a majority investment. The refrigerated Greek yogurt bar maker has more than quadrupled revenue since CEO John McGuckin joined in 2021. Clio is on track to produce more than 150 million bars this year at its 86,000-square-foot Piscataway, New Jersey, facility. Its products are sold in roughly 60,000 stores nationwide.

Building A Larger Retail Business

Clio began in 2015 after founder Sergey Konchakovskiy experimented with over-strained Greek yogurt, forming it into bars and adding a chocolatey coating. The company has since expanded from Original Greek Yogurt bars into new flavors and Mini multi-packs.

John McGuckin, CEO at Clio Snacks, said:

“When I joined Clio, we already had an incredible product and a passionate consumer base. We saw a tremendous opportunity to build the infrastructure and scale the business. Partnering with Stride gives us the resources and support to build on that momentum.”

Investment Priorities

The partnership will support investment in brand building, distribution, operations and product innovation. Clio is ranked No. 9 on Instacart’s list of top Greek yogurt brands.

Juan Marcos Hill, Partner at Stride, said:

“We have been trying to partner with Clio for years, admiring the brand's vision and how the team has truly built a differentiated brand in the rapidly growing better-for-you 'permissive indulgence' snacking space.”

Emma Greenwood, Vice President at Stride, added:

“We jumped at the opportunity to partner with the Clio team and support the company as it scales.”

Next Phase For Clio

The investment gives Clio added support as it increases production and broadens retail distribution. The company plans to build on its refrigerated Greek yogurt bar format as it reaches more snackers.
