Tierra Encantada has signed a three-unit area development agreement with franchise operators Mari Millard and Marnie Hammel, marking the Spanish immersion early education brand’s first move into Maryland. The pair currently own and operate 10 Two Maids locations and bring more than a decade of franchise ownership experience. Tierra Encantada has 21 centers open, with another 47 locations in development or under construction. Centers open for more than 24 months have achieved an average unit volume of $2.6 million.

Experienced Operators Enter Early Education

Millard previously served as vice president of research at FRANdata, while Hammel worked as an attorney before joining the franchise operation. The agreement adds early education to their multi-unit portfolio in a state described as one of the nation’s top markets for franchise growth.

Mari Millard, franchise owner, said:

“Tierra Encantada stood out because of its commitment to quality, its proven systems, and its focus on creating meaningful outcomes for children. Throughout my career, I've been drawn to businesses that make a positive impact while also offering strong growth potential. Tierra Encantada's emphasis on education, family values and community aligns closely with what's important to me, and I'm excited to bring this opportunity to families in Maryland.”

Spanish Immersion Model

Founded in 2013, Tierra Encantada combines Spanish immersion, play-based STEAM learning, scratch-made meals and designed learning environments. The company serves children ages six weeks through six years and positions its program around bilingualism, kindergarten preparation, and academic and social-emotional development.

Kristen Denzer, Founder and CEO at Tierra Encantada, said:

“Experienced multi-unit operators are highly selective about the brands they add to their portfolios, which makes Mari and Marnie's decision to grow with Tierra Encantada especially meaningful. Their operating experience, disciplined approach to franchise investment and commitment to building strong organizations make them exactly the type of partners we want growing our brand. We're excited to support them as they introduce Tierra Encantada to families throughout Maryland.”

Growth Plans Continue

The Maryland agreement is part of Tierra Encantada’s wider franchise expansion. Franchise opportunities remain available in other markets nationwide through tierraencantadafranchise.com.
