Goodwill Launches License to Thrive Program
License to Thrive uses a $2,000 grant to help eligible young adults cover driver’s license costs.

Goodwill Industries of Wayne and Holmes Counties has launched License to Thrive, a program to help young adults pursue driver’s licenses. The initiative is supported by a $2,000 grant from the Wayne County Community Foundation. Eligible participants can receive financial assistance with costs associated with earning a license. The program is intended to reduce transportation barriers to employment, education, and independence.
Support for License Costs
For young adults without a driver’s license, getting to work, attending training programs, and pursuing new opportunities can be difficult. License to Thrive provides support for an important step toward self-sufficiency.
Jessica Strouse, Mission Services Director at Goodwill Industries of Wayne and Holmes Counties, said:
“One of the biggest challenges we see is that someone is ready to work, but they simply can't get there. A driver's license can be the difference between staying stuck and moving forward. We're incredibly grateful to the Wayne County Community Foundation for helping us remove that barrier and giving more young adults the opportunity to build a brighter future.”
Building on Existing Programs
The initiative builds on Goodwill’s work with the Wayne County Department of Job and Family Services and other workforce development programs. The foundation grant expands opportunities for young people working to overcome transportation barriers.
Removing a Barrier
Goodwill plans to share stories from License to Thrive participants as the program develops. Interested people can learn about the initiative and apply for services through Goodwill’s programs page.
