Smoothie King reported 9% same-store sales growth in July after 19 openings and 32 franchise commitments in Q2 2026.

Smoothie King reported 9% same-store sales growth in July, its strongest period of 2026. The company said its same-store sales growth has averaged nearly four times the industry rate this year. It also opened 19 locations in the second quarter and added 32 store commitments to its development pipeline. New Chicken Flatbreads, launched in June, were part of the company’s expanded food menu.
Food Menu Supports Sales
Smoothie King introduced its first food menu in 2025 and expanded the offering with protein-focused Chicken Flatbreads in June. The company said the launch contributed to its strongest same-store sales period of 2026.
From 2020 through 2025, Smoothie King reported a 64% increase in system sales and 27% growth in average unit volumes. It has grown systemwide sales each year since 2013.
Franchise Pipeline Expands
The company opened 19 locations across 11 states during the second quarter, including Minnesota, Michigan, Colorado, and New York. Its new development commitments included multi-unit agreements in Arkansas, Ohio, and Florida.
Smoothie King said qualified franchise inquiries in the second quarter reached their highest level since it began tracking the measure in 2017. Store count has increased 76% over the past 10 years.
Operating Model Investment
To support its food expansion, Smoothie King rolled out ovens across its system at no equipment cost to franchisees. The company is also investing in AI-driven back-of-house technology and operational changes intended to improve efficiency and support franchisee growth.
Focus Remains on Expansion
Smoothie King plans to continue investing in menu innovation, franchisee support, and new store development as it brings its nutrition-focused menu to more communities nationwide.
