DPR Construction has named Carlos Crabtree as San Diego business unit leader, placing him in charge of the company’s $500 million local operations. Crabtree brings 27 years with DPR and experience serving San Diego customers and partners. He will oversee business operations, support project-delivery initiatives and work across the region to strengthen customer relationships. The appointment follows his work as project executive during preconstruction for UC San Diego Health’s Hillcrest Medical Campus redevelopment.

Project Delivery Focus

Crabtree has led technically challenging work from preconstruction through construction, coordinating customers, designers and project teams while guiding resources and delivery decisions.

Carlos Crabtree, San Diego Business Unit Leader at DPR Construction, said:

“I'm excited to work alongside our customers, partners and teams as we continue delivering projects that strengthen our communities. Customers today need partners who can help them plan early and improve certainty throughout the delivery process and beyond. By bringing our builders into preconstruction and drawing on our self-perform and prefabrication capabilities, we can better manage complexity and deliver more predictable outcomes with greater efficiency.”

San Diego Operations

DPR’s San Diego portfolio includes healthcare, life sciences, advanced technology, higher education and commercial work. Its customers include UC San Diego Health, Sharp HealthCare, Scripps Research and Neurocrine Biosciences.

Since 2022, DPR’s San Diego service initiatives and DPR Foundation grants have represented nearly $1.8 million in combined value.

Leadership Transition

The role gives Crabtree responsibility for overseeing business operations, supporting strategic initiatives to enhance project delivery and working with teams across the region to strengthen customer relationships.

Brian Gracz, Southwest Regional Leader at DPR Construction, said:

“Carlos truly understands what matters most to our customers, partners and teams. He leads with care, sound judgment and a focus on shared success. His experience, collaborative approach and commitment to building great things position him well to lead this business unit into the future and support its continued growth.”
